South Africa Safari

“There is something about safari life that makes you forget all your sorrows and feel as if you had drunk half a bottle of champagne — bubbling over with heartfelt gratitude for being alive.”

-Karen Blixen (Author of “Out of Africa”)

A safari should be on every person’s bucket list. And South Africa is the perfect destination for both first time and experienced safari goers.

A safari will awe even the most seasoned traveler. There is truly nothing like it. Seeing some of the earth’s most majestic creatures in their natural environment is both humbling and thrilling.

And, also, “Do you have to really rough it on Safari?”. Answer, a resounding NO.

At the End of the day….

a sundowner awaits you so that you can watch the sunset and relive your many incredible moments.

tips for planning your safari adventure

  • Reach out to AWT. A safari is a significant investment and you need a true professional to guide you.

  • Start planning at least a year in advance.

  • Consider hiring a private guide to escort you.

  • Always ask about the size of the group on the game drives. You want a small, intimate group.

  • Pace the trip correctly. You don’t want too short of a stay or too long of a stay at each lodge.

  • Ask about trip extensions. There is so much to see in this region. Spend time in Capetown and the Winelands. Or, perhaps, end your trip on the beautiful beaches of Mozambique.

Protecting the rhinos

Rhino poaching is a serious and devastating problem in Africa with rhinos being illegally hunted and killed for their tusks. When on safari you are strongly encouraged to avoid posting images of rhinos because poachers are searching social media for rhino locations.

We got an informative demonstration of the anti-poaching patrol that is doing their best to eradicate rhino poaching.
